After having served for two years as a transit officer with the New York City Police
Department, Officer Mia Norton joined the Irvington Police Department in August of
1993. Over the years, she has proven her value by pursuing and accepting additional
responsibilities. To keep her skills and knowledge current, Mia has attended numerous
training and seminars. Aside from her patrol duties, Mia is our liaison with the seniors
of Irvington. She checks on the welfare of seniors and assists them whenever needed.
In a male dominated profession, Mia took a stand and with perseverance and
dedication became a seasoned and outstanding law enforcement professional.

Officer Norton is currently attending college and is working toward receiving a Masters
degree in Occupational Therapy. This degree will aid her in dedicating her skills and
expertise in helping individuals who have conditions that are mentally, physically and
developmentally disabling. She will care and assist these individuals to develop,
recover, and maintain daily living and work skills.

For holidays and special occasions, Mia takes pleasure in getting together with her two
sisters and brother. She enjoys a good run in the park with her dog, Sasha, and enjoys
the playful antics of her cat Cleo.
